Hi all of you, how you doing today? Well, today I am going to share one of the favorite fish menus, it's tempura shishamo. I know, I wrote it before, but in this article, I will show how to make tempura shishamo without tempura batter instead of using wheat flour. As you know that shishamo also is known as smelt fish or capelin fish. Do you like this kind of fish? Let's check it out!😊

Ingredient:
  • 6-8 spoon of wheat flour - I use Tesco wheat flour

  • 500 g shishamo fish
  • 10 g of salt
  • 2-3 g of garlic powder
  • 2-3 gram of onion powder
  • 3-5 g of crushed red pepper
  • 1-2 g of coriander leaf - I use Tesco coriander leaf

  • 1 gram of turmeric powder
  • 200 ml of water to make the batter
  • Canola oil to fry the tempura shishamo - about 300 ml of canola oil
  • 1/2 of carrot - cut as you wish
  • Some broccoli
  • 1/2 pack of bunapi mushroom
  • 2 leaves of lettuce
  • Some cherry tomatoes
  • Some green peas
  • 1 chicken stock cube
  • 1 ikan bilis stock cube
  • 800 ml of water for the soup
  • Of course Japanese rice 
How to make tempura shishamo:
  • First, place the wheat flour in a bowl
  • Add salt, coriander leaf, garlic, onion, turmeric, and crushed red pepper
  • Pour 200 ml of water slowly and mix them well
  • Now prepare the shishamo fish. Wash it
  • Cover shishamo fish with batter

  • Prepare the pan with canola oil. Turn on the stove on medium-low flame
  • Fry the fish until golden brown, then place it on kitchen paper. Take aside

Make the veggie soup:
  • Bring boil 800 ml of water
  • Add the chicken stock cube and ikan bilis stock cube
  • Add carrot and green peas first
  • 1 minute later add broccoli, mushroom, and lettuce
  • Cook the soup for about 2-3 minutes. Take aside
Note: to cook the Japanese rice I just use an instant pot

Prepare the dinner:
  • Place the rice first and tempura shishamo

  • Don't forget to eat fruit!
We like this soup, and of course tempura shishamo. In this recipe, tempura shishamo is for 4 people actually 😉 I am glad could share how to make tempura shishamo without tempura batter.
