Urap (Indonesian Traditional Salad)

Do you like vegetables, or do you like salad??….I have something about special menu about salad. This is my family recipe, we called it “Urap” or maybe you can called it “Salad”. Let’s check my recipe from my kitchen guys….

Seasoning :

  • 6 cloves garlic
  • 4 cm bulb sand ginger or called it “kencur”
  • 8 lime leaves
  • 4-5 ttsp grated palm sugar
  • 5 red chilies (if you like spicy)
  • 5 green chilies (one again…just if you like spicy Open-mouthed smile )

Mash all of these seasonings! Be right back

Additional seasoning : salt (add salt as you like, you can taste it before)

Ingredients :

  • 400 g grated coconut
  • bamboo skewer
  • banana leaves
  • 1 pack spinach
  • 1 pack winged bean
  • 100 g bean sprout

These are what you do guys…

  • Plucked and washed spinach
  • Washed and cut winged bean as you like
  • Boil water in a pot on medium flame. Put your spinach, cook it just 3 minutes. Take aside
  • Then, put winged bean, cook it 3-5 minutes, take aside
  • Put bean sprout, cook it 2-3 minutes, take aside
  • Take grated coconut in a bowl
  • Put seasoning that you mashed into bowl
  • Add salt, then mix them well (grated coconut and seasonings)
  • Wrap mixture grated coconut and seasonings with banana leaves
  • Steam it about 25-30 minutes

How to serve it??…

  • First, take a plate
  • Place some of boiled spinach, some of boiled winged bean, and some of bolied bean sprout
  • Add some of seasoning that wrapped into banana leaves
  • Mix them well (vegetables and seasoning)
  • The last serve and enjoy it Winking smile

Note : You can add any other vegetables, like carrot, cabbage, kangkong, cucumber, long bean, french bean, papaya leaves, cassava leaves, bitter gourd Open-mouthed smile
