Semur Tahu (Tofu in Dark soy Sauce)

Finally, the rain is falling! So, what should I cook on a rainy day? Well, I chose to cook tofu, Called it Semur Tahu, or you can call it Tofu in Dark Soy Sauce. This is a familiar menu for the Indonesian family. And I wanted to cook it. Maybe you can find another recipe with different spicy. Yes, there are many spices to cook this menu. So, this is my recipe from my kitchen
Seasoning:
- 6-7 cloves of shallot
- 4-6 cloves of garlic
- 6 green chilies (add chili if you like it)
- 1 ttsp coriander (add coriander if you like it)
- 6 candlenuts
Mash all of these seasonings!
Additional seasoning:
- 2-3 bay leaf
- 3 cm ginger
- 3-4 cm galangal
- 3 tsp sweet dark soy sauce
- add salt as you like
- 1 ttsp white pepper powder
- 1 stick cinnamon
Ingredients:
- 200-gram white tofu (cut in half)
- 7-8 dried tofu (cut in half)
- butter to saute seasoning
- 1-liter water
These are what you do:
- Heat butter on medium flame. Add seasonings that you mashed, ginger, galangal, and bay leaves. Saute them until fragrant, about 3 minutes
- Pour water, add cinnamon, dark soy sauce, and white pepper powder. stir them well
- Add tofu, let it fully cooked about 20-30 minutes
- Then serve it. Of course, you can serve this menu with boiled spinach, or cherry tomato.
